Abstract

Abstract The age at which ewes reach their maximum live weight depends on the environment. At Lincoln College ewes increase in live weight from the two-tooth stage to a maximum at 5–6 years and then decline. The increase is about 8 kg. In the high-country environment no such increase occurs. Lambs born per ewe lambing also increase with oge to the 5- to 6-year stage.
