Abstract

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were successfully immobilized onto the 4A-zeolite by a facile, environmentally friendly method, which combined the ion exchange and hydration hydrazine reduction. Several techniques were used to characterize the synthesized Ag NPs/4A-zeolite composite catalyst. The results indicated that Ag NPs have the excellent dispersion on the 4A-zeolite, and it can be pulled to the surface of carrier. Then, the Ag NPs/4A-zeolite composite catalyst was utilized to catalyze styrene epoxidation in order to test the catalytic performances, and excellent catalytic activity and catalytic selectivity of the composite catalyst were revealed when tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) was used as oxidizing agent. The selectivity of styrene oxide (SO) has been maintained at a high value (>89 %), and the joint selectivity of SO and Benzaldehyde (BZ) also had been maintained at more than 96 %.
