Abstract

This paper presents a coordinated control strategy for Load Frequency Control (LFC) of multi area power system in deregulated environment. In this proposed work a three area hydro-thermal system is considered and each control area connected with tie- line and a FACT devices such as SSSC and IPFC connected in series to tie-line individually. In this coordinated control strategy a fractional order PI controller is introduced along with FACT device to diminish frequency deviations of each control area and to minimize tie-line oscillations. The effectiveness of coordinated control strategy ( FOPI with FACT devices) tested on three area hydro-thermal power system under two possible contract scenarios like POOLCO transaction and bi-lateral transaction.
