Abstract
Research on religion and socio-economic changes in the community around the Gunung Padang site, Karyamukti Village, Campaka District, Cianjur Regency originated from the emergence of a local community in carrying out its religion and culture in the form of socio-economic changes. The focus of the research reveals how religious the people around the Gunung Padang site are. How is the socio-economic culture of the community around Mount Padang with the Gunung Padang site, as well as how the religious and socio-economic changes of the community after the restoration (excapation) of the Gunung Padang site. This study uses a qualitative research method, to analyze the religious relationship between the community and the socio-economic culture of the community around ancient sites using a phenomenological approach. The results of this study indicate that the religion of the people around the site is greatly influenced by the process of combining religious understanding and local culture that has been hereditary. The form is through religious expressions, namely belief (theology), ritual (rites) and community (community).

Summary
Ketika kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat mengalami perubahan secara mendasar, maka pemahaman umat terhadap ajaran agama juga mengalami perubahan. Persoalan agama (Islam) dan kehidupan sosial ekonomi ini akan dikaji dari perspektif transformasi keagamaan, yaitu bagaimana kehidupan keagamaan berdialektika dengan perubahan sosial ekonomi dalam sebuah proses sosial yang dinamis. Asumsi di atas mendorong peneliti untuk mengkaji lebih dalam dinamika komunitas Islam di seputar situs Gunung Padang, khususnya ketika mereka merespon perubahan sosial ekonomi yang berlangsung secara cepat dari ekonomi pertanian, ekonomi industri dan jasa pariwisata. Transformasi keagamaan komunitas muslim di seputar Situs Gunung Padang terjadi seiring dengan munculnya perubahan sosial ekonomi, yakni perubahan pertanian menuju pariwisata yang berlangsung akan sangat cepat dan radikal. Pada saat terjadi perubahan kepemimpinan ini, maka berbagai potensi yang dimiliki masyarakat dapat dikembangkan sehingga peran sosial yang telah dimainkan oleh para pendiri secara baik pada masa pertanian, diharapkan dapat dimainkan kembali dalam konteks perubahan pariwisata. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif yaitu untuk menggambarkan realitas sosial berupa fenomena bermunculannya berbagai gerakangerakan keagamaan baru (new religious movement) yang telah menjadi suatu fenomena tersendiri dalam masyarakat dalam beberapa dekade
