Abstract

The phenomenon of cyclic local magnetostriction was observed in Nd2Fe14B metallic crystal, activated by a magnetic field pulse, by means of the Mossbauer effect. Fluctuations in hyperfine fields, isomeric displacements, and the occupancy of certain positions of Fe atoms in the structure occurred with a periodicity of ∼12–13 days. After ∼190 days, the fluctuations ceased and there was an inversion in the occupancy of structurally nonequivalent Fe positions.
