Abstract

The author warns of the unintended consequences of U.S. and EU policies toward Russia. He makes a compelling case for encouraging the successor of the former superpower's influence, weaponry, and oil and gas to play a key role in NATO's Partnership for Peace, which it joined several years ago, and in the area that formed the core of the Soviet Union's political territory.
