Abstract

abstract This reportback covers the first Africa Youth Environment Network (AYEN) strategic planning conference held in Brazzaville, Congo, in May 2006, which was organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Part of the discussions was the theme of gender mainstreaming within the formation of the network. It was acknowledged that young African women have a key role to play in the future of our African continent, being active participants in claiming the continent and fighting for gender and environmental justice.
