Abstract

This article examines the ongoing wars in Ethiopia through the conflict's internal political complexities and the role of international forces. It argues that ethnonational and cultural identities are crucial driving forces in the conflicts that returned the country to the type of civil war it endured some four decades ago as the political transition of 2018 crumbled. International actors became deeply involved in sustaining the conflicts and making peace.
