Abstract

Mucormycosis is a fungal infection caused by inhalation of Mucor and Rhizopus spores in the atmosphere. While healthy individuals are mostly immune to these fungi, immunocompromised patients are susceptible and can develop a severe infection. The Post- Covid Pandemic Indian population had seen many immunocompromised patients suffering from mucormycosis. This was frequently treated with antifungal therapy and surgical excision which often lead to formation of oro-nasal communication and orbital defects. This case report includes rehabilitation of an orbital defect caused as a complication of post- covid mucormycosis by 2-piece magnet and anatomical undercut retained acrylic orbital prosthesis.
