Abstract

Analyzes why some scholars of color have become increasingly skeptical about affirmative action. Criticizes the role-model argument for affirmative action, the notion that minorities who benefit from that program will set a good example and uplift their people. Proposes that professionals of color eschew the role model function and seek out more authentic and vital relationships with their constituent communities.
