Abstract
Molecular oxygen is the other substrate for various mammalian lipoxygenases and cyclooxygenases. Since the affinity of these arachidonate oxygenases with oxygen has not been fully understood, activities of 12-lipoxygenases of platelet-type and leukocyte-type, 15-lipoxygenases, 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenases-1 and -2 were determined at various oxygen concentrations. We found the Km values for oxygen of these enzymes ranging between 10 and 26 μM.
