Abstract

The aim of this study was the examination of the predictive roles of moral value and selfcompassion on forgiveness. Participants of this study were 412 university students in Dumlupinar University in Kutahya/Turkey. Trait Forgiveness Scale, Moral Value Scale and Self-compassion Scale were used for data collection. Data was analyzed by Pearson Product-Moments Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis in SPSS17. Within results, there were relationships between forgiveness, moral value and self-compassion. Self-compassion and moral value were important predictor of forgiveness, also self-compassion and moral value explained to 56% total variance of forgiveness. The findings were discussed in light of the related literature
