Abstract
There has been a call for understanding the role of affect in teams and research over the last decade has made a lot of progress in helping us understand how affect influences team processes as well as effectiveness. However, there is a greater need to understand “how” affect influences outcomes in different types of teams. We bring together a collection of papers that address how affective influences in teams vary in virtual, face-to- face and entrepreneurial teams with regards to different team processes. In doing so, we extend the boundaries of research in the area of affective influences in team by addressing certain key gaps identified by the literature in areas of team affective composition, affective influences in virtual teams, introducing and discussing new areas of research such as group affective norms and role of affect in entrepreneurial teams. By examining different types of teams, the symposium also aims to initiate extensions and applications of team affect research in new related areas of research.
