Abstract
The intelligent virtual character in games or some virtual environments has became more and more popular. To make it more natural and believable, endowing it with not only intelligence but also affection is very necessary. This paper proposes an affective computing model based on Fuzzy Rules, which can basically help the virtual character to simulate human emotions. The model can generate different basic affection status according to different stimulus. Firstly, Based on the Fuzzy IF-THEN rules, it generates an affective factor. Secondly, a nonlinear function was used to compute affection strength, restricted by three elements: personality, affective factor and affective status at the previous moment. In the end, this paper takes the simulation in MATLAB and applies the model in a smart virtual scene. The result represents that the model can simulate the nonlinear and fuzzy characteristics of human affection.
