Abstract

This paper mainly researched the affection to paper by different kinds of pulp and agents. Sugarcane bagasse pulp, hardwood pulp, and softwood pulp were subjects investigated, and the concentration of them was controlled between 3 and 5% in this experiment. The paper physical performance was measured with 3% wet strength agent and water-proofing agent after defibering, and the study results could be used as manufacturing references for pulp molding. 200 g/m3 of paper was made quantitatively in this experiment, and the roughness, tearability, stiffness, and bursting strength of paper were tested by relative equipment. As a result, the roughness increased from sugarcane bagasse pulp to hardwood pulp paper, and softwood pulp was the roughest under the same condition. For the tearability, the sugarcane bagasse pulp was weaker than the hardwood, and the softwood pulp was the best. As for the stiffness, the sugarcane bagasse pulp was the strongest, while the softwood pulp was the weakest. From the results, we also knew that the wet strength agent could increase the tearability, stiffness, and bursting strength of paper, and decrease the roughness of paper, while water-proofing agent decreased all the properties above.
