Abstract

Sensitivity of electro-magnetic contactors for voltage sag is studied by experimental approach. An experimental circuit with semiconductor fault switch that controls the interval and occurring time (phase angle) of voltage sags is developed. The operating characteristics of the contactor is evaluated in various conditions. Shallow sags may cause faster trip of contactor comparing to deep sags (100% sag) in some cases.
