Abstract

Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery Perforator flap (DIEAP) is now-a-days considered the gold standard in autologous breast reconstruction. The aesthetical outcome in breast reconstruction is very important and its improvement is mandatory for plastic surgeons. The most frequent aesthetics problems observed with DIEAP flap are the breast asymmetry in terms of volume and shape, the bulkiness of the inferior lateral quadrant of the new breast, the loss of volume of the upper pole and the lack of projection of the inferior pole. In this chapter the authors describe their personal strategies adopted to correct the mentioned problems in order to improve the final aesthetical outcome in DIEAP flap breast reconstruction.
