Abstract

'Interactive brick sculpture' is developed to provide participants with varied participatory and perceptual experiences. It offers an attractive and pleasurable experience to refresh the value of traditional culture in the digital era. This project creates an interactive environment with ambiance interface of proactive computing. The projected brick images are freely manipulated by participants' gestures and movements. Via customised involvement, it arouses the interest in people of any age to experience traditional crafts in a pleasurable and natural environment. 'Interactive brick sculpture' also persuades participants' collaborative relationship and engages them to create various brick patterns together through their physical interaction with the artwork. Furthermore, the elements of aesthetic interaction and pleasure for the aesthetic experience are discussed in this study.
