Abstract

To verify the feasibility of aerosol scrubbing with Spent Fuel Pool (SFP) during the containment depressurization venting process, the China Aerosol Spent fuel pool Scrubbing Integrated (CASSI) test facility has been designed and built. The CASSI consists of the gas supply system, heating and insulation system, data measurement and acquisition system, aerosol generation system, and aerosol sampling and measurement system. In this study, the current status of the CASSI is introduced along with a description of the aerosol generation system and aerosol sampling and measurement system. A verification test has been carried out, and the test results are described in detail, which shows that the CASSI has good thermo-hydraulic stability and the scrubbing efficiency of solid particles is more than 99.8%. The scrubbing efficiency of particles with diameter greater than 1.08 μm is more than 99.9% during pool scrubbing. The test results proved the feasibility of aerosol scrubbing with SFP.
