Abstract

Objective To analyze and explore the clinical effect of the aerosol inhalation of ambroxol hydrochloride in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic bronchitis and to provide some references for avoiding stagnant asphyxia and decreasing inflammatory reaction in sputum. Methods 200 senile patients with chronic bronchitis treated at our hospital from January, 2013 to June, 2016 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group (n = 100) and a control group (n = 100). Both groups were given routine treatment, such as oxygen inhalation, rehydration, anti-infection, and smooth wheezing, and symptomatic treatment. In addition, the observation group aerosolly inhaled ambroxol hydrochloride. The clinical curative effect, times for the disappearance of clinical symptoms, and the levels of IL-6 and IL-8 were observed in both groups. Results The effective rate was 96.00% in the observation group and 87.00% in the control group, (P<0.05). The times for the disappearance of cough, dyspnea, and rales were shorter in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of IL-6 and IL-8 decreased significantly after treatment in both groups and decreased more in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions Aerosol inhalation of ambroxol hydrochloride in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic bronchitis is obviously effective and make the clinical symptoms disappear quickly, so it is worth being clinically generalized. Key words: Ambroxol hydrochloride; The elderly; Chronic bronchitis; Clinical effect
