Abstract
In South-east Asia, Aeromonas species are occasionally recovered from patients who have developed septicaemia following endoscopic exploration of the biliary tract. However, such infections are extremely rare among Westerners who have never travelled outside Europe. We report two cases of Aeromonas hospital-acquired infections where septicaemia occurred following placement of transhepatic biliary endoprosthesis.
