Abstract

The theoretical and experimental studies of aerodynamic stepped thrustbearing for small cryogenic expansion turbines are described in this paper. The static characteristic curves were obtained by an 2—D finite element method(FEM). A small cryogenic expansion turbine has been designed and tested. The maximum rotational speed 250, 000 rpm of the turbine with aerodynamic stepped thrust bearing was obtained.
