Abstract

In this paper the optim ization s based on a genetic algorithm (GA) are accomplished for the wind turbine blade and airfoil . The Bezier function is used to define the airfoil coordinate and the distribution of chord and twist of the blade. The geometry of wind turbine blade is opt imized to obtain the maximum of the annual energy production (AEP) which can be calculated by the blade element momentum (BEM) . The airfoil of wind turbine blade is optimized to minimize the noise level with the constraints of the maximum lift -to drag rati o and the maximum lift coefficients. The X FOIL provides the aerodynamic analysis and the NAFNoise give s the overall sound pressure level. The optimized wind turbine blade is prov ed to have a better aerodynamic performance and the airfoils with the minimum of the noise level are obtained .
