Abstract

AbstractThe fact that very small aspect changes can drastically alter the profile of an aircraft implies that a huge number of profiles would be required to characterize an aircraft from all possible aspects. This make a look-up table approach to classification impractical in the short-wavelength limit. A deterministic model and a conditionally Gaussian model for high-resolution range profiles (HRRP) are used, and the recognition performance under each model are compared by using one and more than one range profile.
