Abstract

A near record 4.4 million or 3% of Americans quit their jobs in April, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Because that figure encompasses all industries, it's hard to say exactly how many are resigning from higher education, let alone the specific area of student affairs. Although that overall number is broken down to reflect resignations in state and local education, which equals 61,000 or 0.6% for April, it didn't show data for private schools or break it down to just higher ed or student affairs. However, other data show that the field of student affairs has been seeing resignations at higher than usual rates.
