Abstract

Purpose: With increased emphasis on enabling people to self-manage, it is important for clinicians to develop skills in offering advice to patients to help them reach their optimal outcome. To date, little is known about how clinicians develop these skills, making it challenging for students to learn strategies to confidently offer advice. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe how physiotherapists in training acquire knowledge, skills and confidence to offer advice to patients in clinical practice.
