Abstract

This article develops a conceptual framework that enables researchers to view the Internet as a market for information. Advertising plays a critical role in sustaining the viability of this market. Advertising has found itself increasingly under fire by academics and general public opinion. New ways are conceptualized for marketers to view information and a conceptual framework is developed that links advertising to information and information to economic growth. Public policy and managerial implications of this framework are discussed.
