Abstract

While the knowledge of humankind is increasing considerably, people’s time for learning is limited. Therefore, active learning is an issue to consider in the context of 21st century, especially in Asian countries. The flipped classroom is the model which has been used recently, especially after the pandemic COVID-19. The model adapted from the active learning theory has been discovered with quite a lot of advantages. With the methods of consulting materials of prestigious works in international journals and personal experience, this study is going to clarify several issues of active learning theory, flipped classroom model associated with this theory. As a result, a few advantages of the flipped classrooms can be seen: learners self control their learning activities, increasing their own opportunities of learning; learners are the center, interactive activities are focused on; learners are responsible and independent, developing high level thinking.
