Abstract

India and Israel officially established diplomatic relations in 1992. Since then they have collaborated on a host of development issues like agriculture, space research, information Technology etc. There has also been a large component of people-to-people interaction. Both nations have a large pool of technically sound man power in health care. Yet, the strengths of their respective health care human resources are not the same. India has a certain niche in the health care field, Israel has another. The concept is to leverage the strengths of both nations and synergize them. This paper proposes institutionalizing Indo-Israeli collaboration in health care areas by opening an AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Israel and a Tel Aviv University (TAU) Faculty of Medicine campus in India. Both Indian and Israeli doctors and health care professionals will graduate together from both these Institutions leading to value addition for health care human resources. This paper discusses the various aspects of such collaboration.
