Abstract

GSDML (gasdermin-like protein) gene, belongs to a novel protein superfamily.GSDMDC family, which containing a Gasdermin domain, is located on human chromosome 17q21, and considered as an evolutionary recombination hotspot. Because DFNA5, MLZE, GSDM and DFNA5L have been implicated in the development and progression of cancer, GSDML is predicted to be associated with cancer. GSDML protein in the nuclei is expressed at a higher level in uterine cervix cancer tissues compared with the adjacent cancer tis- sues and corresponding nonneoplastic tissues, indicating that GSDML could be an important indicator during the transition process from normal cervix precancerous lesion and cervix cancer. Key words: Cervix neoplasms; Nuclear localization signal; Neoplasm metastasis
