Abstract
Cardiovascular disease, such as cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure, is a common public health burden.Studies in recent years indicate that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α(PGC-1α)has a variety of biological functions and plays an important role in maintenance of cardiac function.More and more data show that PGC-1α has important roles for the development of cardiovascular disease.Molecular mechanism role of PGC-1α in cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure, diabetic cardiomyopathy and atherosclerosis will be discussed in the paper.
