Abstract
This paper summarizes the research on the optimization and guidance of flight trajectories in the presence of windshear, performed by the Aero-Astronautics Group of Rice University during the period 1984–89. This research refers to windshear recovery systems and covers two major areas of investigation: optimal trajectories for take-off, abort landing, and penetration landing; and guidance schemes for take-off, abort landing, and penetration landing.
