Abstract
Advances in Vascular Surgery is a compilation of recent updates in several specific areas in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery. The purpose of the book is to offer recommendations on specific vascular issues that may be missed or not current in a more comprehensive vascular surgery textbook. The textbook successfully compiles a variety of up-to-date topics with current recommendations that would otherwise be scattered in many different journals. The target audience is training and practicing surgeons in vascular surgery as well as endovascular specialists. It is written by experts in their specific fields within vascular and endovascular surgery. The book covers advances in nonsurgical, surgical, and endovascular management issues as well as imaging advances of venous and arterial origin, relevant biochemical advances, and office practice recommendations. Its chapters are practical, with topics typically broken down by issue into etiology, diagnosis, management, treatment techniques, and, finally, discussion of the pertinent aspects. The illustrations and images are clear, well labeled, and complement the written text. The text is by no means a thorough vascular text, but this was not the authors’ intent. Overall, this text is a good adjunct to a traditional vascular surgery textbook and provides information that a more comprehensive text may omit, with current management strategies on a variety of interesting vascular topics.
