Abstract

This review introduces the features of pediatric congenital esophageal stenosis and clinical studies of its treatment in recent years.Three therapies of dilation, surgery and stenting are compared for congenital esophageal stenosis.A choice of treatment is correlated with histological type.Dilating tracheobronchial remnants is ineffective.With a high perforation rate, endoscopic ultrasound screening becomes necessary.Balloon dilatation and bougie dilatation vary in dilation time, efficiency and perforation rate.Surgery is reserved for children with tracheobronchial remnants and ineffective to dilation.Stenting is often indicated for refractory esophageal stenosis and esophageal perforation.And it is hopefully used for congenital esophageal stenosis in the future.
