Abstract

Recommendations are outlined for the afterchrome dyeing of wool to give minimum chrome residues in dyehouse effluent and minimum wool damage. Particular reference is made to the use of a new product Lyocol CR, which reduces chrome residues in exhausted dye liquors and ensures efficient utilisation of minimum chrome additions, thus giving good wet fastness. Low‐chrome methods permit the wider use of chrome dyes for machine‐washable wool and new dyes which increase the shade gamut available are discussed.
