Abstract

Mandibular third molar removal is one of the most commonly performed oral surgical procedures. Concepts regarding the surgical management of mandibular third molar has been evolving ever since they were first introduced. The present chapter aims to outline a few advances in mandibular third molar surgery with respect to surgical approaches, preservation of lingual and inferior alveolar nerves from injury, and newer techniques for bone and tooth sectioning such as utilization of lasers and piezo surgery.
