Abstract

Three sets of pyrolysis systems have been designed and assembled by the authors. Sets I and II are pulsed micro-reactor systems, with carrier gases connected in parallel and in series, respectively. Set III is a continuous tubular flow reactor system. Their variance coefficients of mean square deviation for propane pyrolysis conversion are 0.003, 0.0031 and 0.00819, respectively. This shows that the three systems are reliable for studying kinetics of pyrolysis and feasible for measuring the coke deposition in the pyrolysis of gaseous or liquid hydrocarbons, researching coking inhibitors and investigating the surface effect of materials on pyrolysis and coke deposition. The three sets of pyrolysis reactor systems use entirely Chinese made instruments and apparatus and all have on-line chromatography and computer data processing capabilities.
