Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a typical autoimmune disease with complex clinical manifestations and involvement of organs and tissues of multiple systems throughout the body, but its pathogenesis is still unclear, therefore, the establishment of a suitable animal model of lupus is of great significance in exploring the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of SLE. Constructing a lupus mouse model is a good tool for studying SLE. In this review, we will introduce the methods of establishing different kinds of lupus mouse models and their characteristics, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various models, with a view to providing researchers with references in the process of exploring the pathogenesis of lupus, and in the development of targeted interventions and therapeutic drugs.
