Abstract
Some types of rotating equipment employ a high-pressure lubricant between a pair of polymeric rotary seals. In hydraulic swivels, the lubricant transmits pressure between relatively rotatable components. In other equipment, such as an oilfield rotating control device (RCD), one seal excludes a high-pressure process fluid, whilst another retains the high-pressure lubricant. This article describes advancements in the life and pressure capacity of such seals.
