Abstract

The undesirable state of our environment filled with black soot and other pollutants especially in the Niger Delta ; the huge amount of money spent on foreign medical tourisms by the ruling class; and the pace of killings and kidnappings by the terrorist groups such as the Boko Haram, the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), the Herdsmen and the ravaging bandits in the Northern parts; and the destructive activities by the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and the militants in the Southern parts have being sources of major concerns and threats to the existences of our dear country Nigeria. Several concerted efforts and strategies have been employed by successive government for years in finding solutions to address these menaces but none has yielded sustainable result. This work elucidates how the advances in High Energy Physics (HEP) can be of sustainable solutions to these escalating problems threatening our survival in diversity. The objectives of the study were anchored on the basis of the standard model; the basic constituents of matter and radiations with their interacting forces; and the pros of High Energy Physics (HEP) in the developed countries that could be of sustainable model in transforming Nigeria to a productive, developed and politically stable nation. It was observed that the desire for knowledge is a profound human instinct and knowledge of the universe at the most basic level is one prerequisite of our existence. Moreso the advances in HEP are already contributing to making the world safer as critical and central elements in providing solutions to more complex problems than ours in Nigeria.
