Abstract
Green ammonia has become a viable sustainable energy source and feedstock for a range of industrial uses when it is produced using renewable energy sources. The current chapter aims to provide an overview of green ammonia generation, methods of electrolysis to produce green hydrogen, industrial applications of green ammonia, recent advances in green ammonia, renewable energy integration, the latest advancements in the infrastructure for renewable energy and the scalability of green ammonia, carbon capture technologies, the financial and environmental advantages of carbon capture and utilization in the manufacturing of green ammonia, and challenges and barriers. Green ammonia is usually generated utilizing the Haber-Bosch process, which employs alternative energy sources. The applications of green ammonia are numerous and include usage as a clean fuel for vehicles, a medium for storing renewable energy, and a feedstock for the synthesis of compounds and fertilizers based on nitrogen. It is also a crucial part of the shift to a sustainable energy future because of its capacity to support decarbonization initiatives, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve energy security. In order to fully realize green ammonia׳s potential as a major participant in the green energy landscape, this study demonstrates the present state of the industry and its chances for widespread adoption, stressing both possibilities and obstacles.
