Abstract

Background In the past 50 years, acupuncture therapy has triggered a great interest among researchers both in China and in other countries. Both the acupuncture anesthesia and acupuncture-assisted anesthesia have been widely used in the perioperative period and received wide attention. Objective To review the clinical application of acupuncture therapy in the perioperative period. Content A review of the application and progress of acupuncture in the perioperative period. Trend At present, the application of acupuncture therapy in the perioperative period is still limited. But with the development of acupuncture research, acupuncture therapy will be combined with modern perioperative medicine better. Thus, acupuncture therapy will be widely recognized.
