Abstract

AbstractThis paper presents a new voltage dependent model for optimal reactive compensation planning of radial distribution systems. It is of combinatorial type, with non‐linear and non‐differentiable criterion function, including nonequality constraints. The problem solution consists of an effective accelerated search, based on the dynamic programming. Two different search procedures are proposed. The first procedure employs normalized simultaneous load duration curves of consumer's nodes, arranged in decreased sequence and the second one considers the case of non‐simultaneous and unarranged load diagrams. The model is tested on two characteristic radial distribution systems. It exhibited better results regarding savings, than previously proposed methods applied on the same test systems.
