Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to report on investigations with dilatometry, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray microanalysis, mechanical testing and fracture mechanics methods into the strengthening mechanisms operative in ultra-low carbon bainitic (ULCB) steels and high strength low alloy copper precipitation strengthened (HSLA100) steels and their resistance to brittle fracture.
