Abstract
The choice of the title Advanced Therapy in Epilepsy seems rather curious. I expected a book with a focus on state of the art therapies and cutting edge technology. In fact, of the 59 chapters, almost half do not make more than a passing reference to treatments for epilepsy, but deal predominantly with epidemiology, basic mechanisms, aetiology, seizure classification, and diagnostic techniques. Whilst these are clearly essential components of any comprehensive textbook on epilepsy, in this text these chapters rather detract from the core theme of therapy in epilepsy.
