Abstract
Supplying water where it is needed most is not always straightforward and supplying the Shanxi Province in north-central China is no exception. The challenge involved lifting water to an altitude of 630 m from the Yellow River through five pumping stations. Operating 24 hours a day for 10 consecutive months (7,300 hours) every year, demands the highest possible protection against abrasion, unprecedented anywhere in the world. Ebara took up the challenge of China's Shanxi Wanjiazhai Yellow River Diversion Project.
