Abstract

This review chapter focuses on enhancing the cutting performance of diamond-coated tools when machining CFRP composite materials. The enhancement is achieved by utilizing advanced polycrystalline diamond coatings on WC-Co-based cutting tools. Additionally, a proposed reconditioning method for these diamond-coated tools is discussed. The chapter elaborates on a hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) technique for preparing diamond coatings with various film morphologies, achieved through boron doping. It covers the fundamentals, equipment used, deposition parameters, and substrate pretreatment techniques involved in the HFCVD method. Furthermore, it explores the strategy of improving interface adhesion by doping chemical elements into diamond coatings.
