Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, the development and the application of a framework for advanced numerical thermal and mechanical analysis of a composite slab with unprotected steel beams which is subjected to fire is described. A short overview over existing calculation methods is given to describe the state of the art in fire design of composite slabs. For the numerical model in the software framework SOFiSTiK, the main advantages, features and characteristics are described. To analyse the reliability of the model, the process of validation with existing fire tests is presented. Finally, the model is applied in an engineering project by means of a case study.
