Abstract

A number of options for power-generating unit repowering by installing topping gas turbine units, using the novel 'partial oxidation' technology on the basis of heavy duty and aeroderivative gas turbines, indented for modernization of existing natural gas-fired steam power plants have been examined. A comparative thermodynamic, technical and economic analysis of these repowering options has been made for most traditional alternative options offered for modernization and substitution of steam turbine units. The most important parameters as additionally generated useful power and efficiency of production of additional electric power are determined. Copyright The Author 2011.
