Abstract

Building management system (BMS) has the ability to monitor and control buildings' mechanical and electrical equipment namely heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, power, fire and security systems. BMS can also provide indoor thermal comfort within commercial buildings including industrial and institutional buildings and able to reduce energyconsumption. However most of HVAC systems are controlled by using conventional controller whose functions are based on ON/OFF controller and Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers. To determine the amount of energy savings of a BMS controlled building, the building energy load should be determined and compared using conventional PID controllers and then using Fuzzy based controllers. Where the buildings ventilation parameter are ignored because classrooms campus has doors that are frequently opened and closed, the frequent opening and closing the door of a classrooms, it will greatly affect the indoor temperature setting. this will certainly lead to positive and negative effects in the technique of controlling the classrooms temperature.
